Kenneth Bisio Obituary

Kenneth "Jack" Bisio 1927-2013 Resident of Castro Valley How do you sum up the life of someone like Jack Bisio in a few lines or paragraphs in a newspaper. You can't. How do you try to explain to people who read the obituaries the larger than life personality of someone like Jack Bisio. You don't. We can list the stats like his age, where he lived and who's left behind but to trying to explain someone like Jack in black and white is not only improbable, it's impossible. You had to experience him. He had an uncanny gift of making you laugh or at least raising a corner of your mouth or shaking your head in awe of the amazing man you just met. Jack had a dictionary of nicknames for those he loved and was fond of. His honest, often unsolicited opinions of your latest style or possible weight gain was ended with "Who Loves Ya Baby?!?" Those who knew Jack well often heard his favorite expressions such as "Eat Your Heart Out", and most recently "Cash or Couch". Jack was ever the ladies man, and would share that he was constantly "looking for his soon to be ex-wife" though everyone knew his heart belonged to Mable. Jack understood the importance of hard work and he also understood the value of family. Even if you weren't blood, you were still considered family. His business, Jack's Trailer Sales in Castro Valley, California (aka "The Ranch") began in 1960, is family owned and operated and remains in business to this day. "The Ranch" is a safe haven where friends old and new gather to have a cup of coffee, buy some hay, get a trailer light fixed, shoot the breeze, share their woes, share their happiness and an occasional shot of Tequila with Jack. In the company of loving family and amazing friends Jack was called to be with his wife, Mable, on March 25 at his home which is right where he wanted to be. He is survived by his daughter Suzie and sons Kenny and Jay, grandchildren Chris, Jaci, Jessica and Maria, great-grandchild Kaycee-Lou and countless extended family and friends. You know who you are! Services for Jack will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park located at 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward. Visitation will be on April 2 between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be on April 3 at 1:00 p.m. Reception will follow at "The Ranch". Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Castro Valley Breakfast Lions Club, Buon Tempo Club and The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.

This man and his family made a huge imprint on my life. I live far away now and somehow still feel like I could just drive up there and walk into Mable's kitchen and everyone would still be the same. I'm looking forward to continuing our friendship in heaven when we all "get in." Jack was so good to us, as was beautiful Mable. Suzi, Kenny and Jay, we love you all and hope you know it. You all have a big tradition to carry on and we believe you are up to it.

I bought my first horse from Jack with my own hard earned money when I was just twelve years old. I was able to work out a deal with Jack for reduced board in exchange for keeping my horse's stall clean. I was terrified when Jack pointed a finger at me telling me that it was an everyday job, rain or shine, or the deal was off. And so, Jack helped to instill good work ethics in me at an early age.
Jack helped me become a more developed horse kid by “trading up” to more experienced horses as my skills advanced and we always worked out a deal . I very much appreciate and cherish the time I spent, and will always have fond memories of “The Ranch” in Crow Canyon.
There were many kids who boarded at Bisio's back in the early 70's, and Jack treated us all to fun times during the summer with occasional trips to Orwood Resort. But first, we all had to clean out the blue horse hauler truck so we could all ride in the back to get there. What a treat for all of us, including the Bisio kids!
Even after all these years, it was always a pleasure to see Jack at Rowell Ranch and Livermore Rodeos and other events and functions.
Thank you Jack (and Mable) for being a significant influence on many lives.

Rest peacefully.

Lion Jack - The Great!

The last great Cowboy of Castro Valley...a true and honest friend. A man that told it like it was and made you feel like you were an important part of his life.

He kept a picture of Michele and I in his wallet; folded so you couldn't see me...he liked to share it with people..."she's my new girlfriend."

We'll miss your friendship, guidance and selflessness!

So long, partner!

I did not know Mr. Bisio, but rather met him while passing through the obituaries of my hometown paper.
What an awesome man, and obviously one of life's true givers!
We should all be so lucky to have a man like this in our lives, or at the very least, we should all aspire to be like him! The messages he shared of love, happiness, and "Jack-isms" will certainly live on through his children, as he seemed to teach and lead by the example he set.
Condolences and Blessings to all of you, and, Mr. Bisio, may you truly rest in peace ~
