Resident of Knightsen
Penny McCausland, mother, sister, friend, and animal lover died at home on September 2. She was 67.
A thirty-six year resident of Knightsen, she and her husband Ron raised three daughters. She was known for her love of family and her Shetland Sheepdogs.
Penny founded Penelane Shelties, where she bred and raised both confirmation and agility champions. She taught dog training classes to the residents of Contra Costa County for many years to share her passion, experience and love of animals. Many of her students went on to become life-long friends.
Penny was born in Bushey, England. She graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1963 and married Ron McCausland in 1965. Committed to lifelong learning, Penny returned to school at age 48, earning her associates degree from Los Medanos Community College in 1999.
Penny is survived by her daughters Lynn Kemper, Deedee McCausland and Chrissy McCausland, all of Portland, Oregon.

My sincerest condolences to Penny's family. Penny is the only one that made me feel truly welcomed in the sport of dogs. I am really going to miss her genuine friendship and positive attitude. Penny will be greatly missed.
