Richard (Rick) Benson
Resident of Pleasanton
Richard (Rick) Benson, 71, of Pleasanton, passed away October 15, 2013, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born in Oakland, CA, raised in Castro Valley and resided in Pleasanton for over 40 years.
Rick worked for General Motors for over 40 years, retiring from Good Chevrolet of Alameda in 1999. Always a car enthusiast, he specialized in building motors as a hobby. His most favorite times were spent with family in the beautiful hamlets of Johnsville and Clio, otherwise known as his 'happy place'. He believed his greatest treasures were his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Rosemary, brothers Tom and Steve and son Rudy. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, children Jill Felts, Julie (George) Avila, Anthony (Becky) Gonzales, Rene (Randy) Onate; grandchildren, Andrew (Jaime) Smith, Alyssa Benson, Rachel (Chris) Edwards, Ashley Avila, Susan Gonzales, Michael Gonzales; three great-grandchildren; brother Jay (Terry) Benson; sister-in-law Sherry Benson, along with several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. He will be interred at Johnsville Cemetery, Johnsville, CA.
