Passed away at 92 yrs. of age in Walnut Creek, CA
Stanley was born in Oklahoma to Sophie (Block) and Doran Dee Hill. At a young age his family moved to Reno, Nevada, where he attended local schools and graduated from Reno High School. He got his driver's license at age thirteen and enjoyed cars and going for drives and seeing new sights throughout his life. He also enjoyed hunting and shooting, and became one of the top shooters in the country and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He married Velma Ramelli on May 31, 1942. Shortly after, with two years of advanced ROTC at the University of Nevada he went on active duty as a 2nd Lieutenant in WWII. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion of the 24th Infantry Regiment and participated in accepting the first surrender of a Japanese garrison at the end of the war. After discharge, he finished his Bachelor of Science of Business Administration degree at the University of Nevada and became a sales representative with the National Cash Register Company (NCR) with the largest territory in the country. He transferred with NCR to San Luis Obispo, then Oakland, California, and moved his family to Walnut Creek, California. He left NCR in the late 1960s to sell real estate. Stanley resided in Contra Costa County for fifty years and attended Grace Presbyterian church with his wife, Velma.
Stanley and Velma (deceased) were married sixty-three years and had four children (Gail, Joyce, Stan Jr., and Barbara), eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Private memorial service and interment of cremains at Grace Presbyterian Church.
