Adeline Beemer Obituary
Adeline Beemer Jan. 22, 1920 - Feb. 8, 2013 Resident of Concord & Walnut Creek Adeline Lois Beemer (formerly Kissinger, born Johnson) passed away Friday morning, February 8, 2013. Adeline, aka Addy, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and raised in Rio Linda, California with her sister, Garnett, and brother, Hubert. She attended Grant Union High School and worked as a clerical typist during World War II at the Department of Motor Vehicles. In 1948, she moved to Concord, California, where she lived most of her life and raised her children. She was Clayton Valley High School's Treasurer for twenty plus years, during which time she enjoyed the support and friendship of staff and faculty there. We remember Addy for being a trooper, a real oldie but goodie, who loved adventure when she had someone to share it with. Even in her sixty's she was willing to go along with her children's schemes and ideas of fun. She loved being a wife, but mostly a mother. Nothing compared to Addy's home cooked meals. Her lemon meringue and apple pies were exquisite treats with just the right amount of everything. Adeline was preceded in death by her first husband, Captain Louis LaVerne Kissinger, World War II Veteran and POW, and second husband, Delmaine Beemer, dear friend and traveling partner. Also by her brother and sister, mother and father, and many friends. She is survived by her children, Jim Kissinger, Lynn Roesner, and Leslie Houang, and their families, including six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and also by her step-son, Bud Beemer, and step-daughter, Kathy Michael, and their respective families, including four grandchildren and two great-grandchilden. A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Friday, February 15, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Concord, 1965 Colfax Street, Concord. A reception will follow in the church's fireside room. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Heatherwood Memory Care Center and Hospice Caregivers. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may wish to make contributions to VITAS Community Connection, c/o VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 365 Lennon Lane, Walnut Creek, CA 94598 (online: Vitascommunityconnection.org) or Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, P.
