Born in Oakland, CA on May 23, 1928 to the late Stavros and Maria Georgiou, Christopher passed away peacefully on December 5, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He was preceded in death by his brother Theodore Georgiou of San Francisco. He is survived by his loving wife Maria of 54 years and brother John Georgiou of San Leandro. Will be greatly missed by his children Julie and Chris (Elena). Beloved "Papouli" to his grandchildren Maria, Christopher, and Manoli. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends.
He attended the University of Southern California where he received a PhD in Pharmacology and served in the U.S. Army as a Pharmacy Specialist in Occupied Germany. He worked for several years at pharmacies in both Oakland and San Francisco, and later in life became a successful real estate investor.
Christopher was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both fishing and hunting, and traveled extensively throughout the world with Maria at his side. He was an active member of the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral, serving on the parish council as Treasurer for several years. He was also a member of the Roumeli Society and the Masons.
Family and friends are invited to attend Trisagion Services Monday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Services Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Both services will take place at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Ave, Oakland. Interment Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ascension Cathedral building fund.
