Dennis passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013. Dennis was born in Yankton South Dakota to Herbert and Lillian Curry, and eventually settled in the Mt. Pleasant area of Michigan. He received a B.S. in Accounting/Economics from Central Michigan University in 1948, and a Masters in Accounting from the University of Colorado in 1958. He also served in the U.S. Navy. He settled in the Town of Moraga from 1964 to 1986 and retired to the Grass Valley/Lake Wildwood area in 1988.
Dennis was loved by his friends and family and is survived by his wife of 56 years Betty and their three wonderful children: Kathy Gilbert (Greg), Mark (Susan) and Steve (Lori); Grandchildren Nicholas & Amanda Gilbert, Robin & Alana Curry and Andrew and Daniel Curry; and his sister Karen Curry Heydenburg (Robert) of Gladwin, Michigan and their family.
When first married, Dennis' work took him and his family to many different parts of the US, but finally settled in the SF Bay Area, in the Town of Moraga. He worked for Arthur Andersen Accounting, Kaiser Industries, IBM, Utah International and BHP. He was an active member of his church community both at Moraga Valley Presbyterian and Sierra Presbyterian Church. In retirement, Dennis spent much of his time traveling with Betty across the US, Canada and Mexico in an RV, teaching computing at community classes and spoiling his grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Dennis' life will be held at the Sierra Presbyterian Church, in Nevada City on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Inc. (www.apdaparkinson.org) or the Sierra Presbyterian Church Deacon Fund.
