Donald James Frank Stark Obituary
Donald James Frank Stark
Dec. 4, 1957 - Mar. 26, 2014
Resident of Danville, CA
Beloved Don, age 56, passed away suddenly at the Great Wall in Beijing, China. We will never know what happened but we know he will always be in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife Edda, daughter Amanda, mother Anne, sister Margaret "Jan" (Mark) Backlund, sister Joan (Craig) Stone, brother Martin "Marty" Hepner, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
He always fondly remembered camping at Yosemite yearly as a child and his family trip around the US when he was 12. In high school, he excelled in many sports. He was a reserve for the Coast Guard and was chosen to be in the front row marching with the Coast Guard for Carter's inauguration. He attended college, graduating from UCLA with a history major. At 32, he moved from Monterey Park to San Francisco where he met his beloved wife at work. On October 16, 1993, Don and Edda married in St. Mary's Cathedral in SF. Don was the love of her life. They shared a passion for hikes, visiting National Parks, and traveling outside the US. He traveled to many cities of countries Spain, England, Ireland, Mexico, Peru, Australia and also did many trips around the US and Hawaii. He adored his daughter Amanda, born 2000. Don's kind eyes sparkled around Amanda. He enjoyed most of the trips above with his daughter and wife. Every year he camped in Yosemite and hiked Half Dome. He ran 6 miles/day and enjoyed doing athletic activities and sports with his daughter, Amanda. He was a successful and popular coach of girls' Mustang Soccer teams and had multiple highly successful seasons. This past season, his team, the Vipers, ranked 2nd of 36 competitive teams. They won tournaments and were league champions. He put so much of his time into coaching and absolutely loved doing it. He worked in the pharmaceutical field for many years. He was such a fan of Barcelona FC (sharing the fanaticism with his mom-in-law Hortensia), watching the winning games over and over.
His Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 27th, 2014 at 2 pm in the Danville Veteran's Hall in 400 Hartz Ave. Danville, Ca 94526. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Educational Fund for Amanda Stark at www.stark2014.wix.com/donstarkmemorial
