Doris Marie Krohn
Sept 21,1921-Jan 28,2014
Resident of Moraga
Doris Marie Krohn passed away on Tuesday at age 92 after a brave attempt at recovery from hip surgery and cardiac disease. Her passion for connecting with all her treasured family and friends motivated her, enriched lives, and cultivated a uniting sense of togetherness.
Born in San Francisco to Oscar and Marie Lynch, Doris was the eldest and last surviving of five children: Robert, Ralph, Warren, and Vivian. Doris held fond memories of her childhood in San Carlos, later graduating from Star of the Sea Academy (SF) in 1939. She worked at the Sugar Bowl Bakery, the U.S. Navy Purchasing Office and the Louise Lombard Special Education School.
Doris met the handsome, long-standing love of her life, Bob Krohn (deceased) at a YMI-YLI dance in 1941. After Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee, the two were married in November 1943. She took the train to join him in Rhode Island before he returned to California's Port Hueneme. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother, an avid gardener, an excellent seamstress and a talented oil painter. As a creative dinner hostess, she promoted fun times with friends and family; and enjoyed visiting while playing bridge.
Doris was cherished and loved by her children Donald Krohn (Judy), Sister Carolyn Marie Krohn RSM (her devoted caregiver for 5 years) and Barbara David (Peter). She was a beloved grandmother to Todd Krohn (Laura), Stephanie Krohn (Brad), Brooke Krohn, Christina David, and Sabrina David. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10:30 AM at St. Monica's Church, 1001 Camino Pablo, Moraga. If desired, donations may be sent to a .
