Dudley R. Kennedy Aug.28, 1916 - Feb. 4, 2013 Resident of Danville Dudley R. Kennedy, 96, passed away peacefully on February 4th in a local care home following a brief illness. He was born in Akron, Ohio, lived in Southern California for many years before moving to Paradise, California where he developed a trailer park and ran a fishing tackle shop. He then relocated to Alamo, California and was a resident there for approximately 25 years. He was an Insurance Broker for more than 30 years. Dudley was a veteran of World War II and the United States Army from 1940-1946. He was discharged as Captain and was awarded both the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. He served 36 years in the Army Reserves. He had over 64 years of continuous membership of American Legion Post #246 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of and Chaplain for the San Ramon Valley Exchange Club. He was active in the Danville Senior Community poetry club and a veteran's poker club. Dudley loved to read and write and published a book of poetry, a play and children's stories. He also published a book of prayers for use by the American Legion. Dudley loved the outdoors and fishing was one of his passions. Dudley is survived by his stepdaughter, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends in the Danville/ Alamo area. Celebration of Life services with Military Honors will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 3rd at the Danville Veterans Memorial Building, 400 Hartz Avenue, Danville. It will be hosted by American Legion Post #246 with other Veteran Service Organizations participating. Inurnment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga, New York.
