Elisa Cardona Rangel
1938-2012
Resident of Martinez, CA
Team Rangel lost its sweetest captain, Elisa Rangel, age 74, on July 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfonso Rangel. A forty-nine year resident of Martinez, she is survived by her nine children including Gary Rangel (Leslie); Rosie Edwards (Al); Lupe Kemper (Brian); Yolanda Rangel; Josie Arth (Mike); Marisela Lunsford; Alfonso Rangel Jr. (Carolyn); Jaime Rangel (Molly); Michael Rangel (Sonya). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her parents, Miguel and Maria de la Luz Cardona and numerous relatives who adored her.
She was a model mother, grandmother and great grandmother- all roles she treasured. Her life was devoted to her family and her deep faith. She lived and taught the values of unselfish love, humility, charity, and kindness with dignity and class. In addition to cultivating a beautiful family, she had the remarkable ability of helping any plant or flower flourish. She could transform a wilted flower or plant into a stunning floral creation. Her love of sewing is reflected in the many beautiful handiworks that she leaves behind for her family to treasure. Her gentle spirit is dancing once again with her loving husband and smiling down upon us.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, July 19th at 7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral mass on Friday, July 20th at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Martinez. Burial immediately follows mass at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, CA.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her honor to any charity.
