Frances Britt Obituary

Frances Haw Britt Sept. 7 1919 - Dec. 25, 2013 Resident of Danville, CA Fran passed away peacefully on Christmas Morning 2013. We were comforted to know that on Christmas Eve Day, she expressed gratitude for her long life, her many blessings and her readiness to be with her Lord. Fran was born in SF in 1919 to Frank & Lola Haw. In 1936, she married C.S. Lee (foreign student at NYU) and went to China for a short honeymoon to meet her husband's family (incl. 1 father-in-law and his 4 wives). Due to life's circumstances (incl. the Japanese invasion of China and WWII), Fran returned to the US 17 years later (1954) for a long visit. While in China, Fran worked for the US Foreign Services for 11 years as Executive Secretary to the Chief (Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources) in Taiwan and Saigon. Shortly after Fran resigned in 1961 to be with her family in the US, the American Embassy she worked in was bombed (beginnings of the Vietnam War). After Fran's retirement from Del Monte Corp in 1978, she moved to Oahu with her 2nd husband, Ed. She was active in church activities and volunteered at Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi. After Ed's, passing, Fran was invited to live with her daughter's family in Danville. Since then, Fran was active in her church, CPC's Prime Time, the Danville Seniors (President for 6 years), International Grandmother's Club (President for 6 years), etc. Her 3 favorite words were "Let's Eat Out" and she did a lot. Fran certainly enjoyed life and the fellowship of her many friends and they, in turn, appreciated her zest for life. Fran is survived by daughters Phyllis Tsai (husband Stanley), Eleanor Ng, Shirley Jacks (husband Doug); son Francis Lee; grandchildren Thomas Ng, Marguerite Vartan (husband Kirk); Albert Ng, Cynthia Tsai, Robin Lee, Patrick Ng (wife Helen), Jodina Jacks Ehle (husband Adam); sis-in-law Rose Ann Haw; 5 nephews from other states; great-granddaughter, Autumn Noelle Ehle, born 12/7/13 (Yes, Fran waited for her arrival). A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church (in the Chapel), 222 West Pintado Rd, Danville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "CPC Deacon's Fund".

Myself and my family wish to extend our deepest sympathy. My mother was blessed as were we, to be touched by such warmth and caring from Fran and her family. My mom misses Fran very much and speaks of her often during our phone conversations. Our family wishes all of you peace and happiness. God be with you.

With love and respect,
Edna Hardin and family
