Gregory Jerome Rocha|
April 18, 1962 - Oct. 8, 2013
Resident of Antioch
Greg Rocha passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Oct. 8.
Born in Oakland, Greg spent the majority of his life in Antioch, graduating from Antioch High in 1980. He proudly - and with honor - served in the United States Marine Corp from 1980-1984. He was in the First Recon Battalion and earned the rank of Corporal E4.
His love of country was only surpassed by his love of family and friends, and the joy of riding his Harley Davidson. Ever the brave solider, Greg never shied away from watching over friends and family. He remained a vigilant protector, always looking out for those he adored.
Greg is survived by parents Lou and Mary Rocha; siblings Louie Rocha (Tammy) and Jessica Fernandez (Harold); son Greg Rocha Jr. and his mother Carmen Coria-Esquivel; nephews Ruben and Louis Rocha II and nieces Marcela Meleah and Miley Fernandez. His family takes comfort in believing he's with loved ones who passed before him, and know Greg will continue to watch over those for whom he cared deeply.
A memorial funeral liturgy is at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 29 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 3351 Contra Loma Blvd. in Antioch, followed by Committal Services at 2 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road in Dixon. Upon returning from Dixon, the Rocha family hosts a celebration of life reception at about 5 p.m. at Antioch's Red Caboose Restaurant, 210 Fulton Shipyard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East County Veterans, 708 West 2nd St., Antioch, CA 94509.
