Obituary Condolences

Howard Rosenblum, M.D. March 13, 1934- Nov. 4, 2012 Resident of Danville Howard's family was at home with him the day of his passing, after an extended battle with cancer. This is some comfort, but he will be so missed by family and friends. Howard was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Continuing on to college at Carlton college in Northfield, Minnesota. While there he played baseball and basketball. He took such pleasure in his basketball playing days and pride in being inducted into Carlton's basketball Hall of Fame. He received his M.D. from chicago Medical School in 1959. He married Carol Kritt after graduation and went off to L.A. to internship at L.A. County Hospital. From there the "adventures" of residencies at Boston City Hospital and the Univ. of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City. When he decided to get a fellowship in Hematology he came back West to U.C.S.F, and it was decided the Bay Area was going to be home. Howard joined Kaiser Permanente in its early days and stayed 48 years, moving from the Hayward to Fremont facility with a two year hiatus to serve in the Army from 1966-68 at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. Back in the Bay Area, Howard and Carol moved to Danville and enjoyed a wonderful life raising their daughter Leslie, and son Grant, and proudly watched them grow into fine adults and wonderful friends to their parents. Next best was playing golf and poker with his buddies from Round Hill C.C. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Grant (Georgia), daughter Leslie, brother Leigh, and sister Beaty Harris, and loving nieces and nephews. But, the lights of his life were his four beloved granddaughters Sydney, Brooke, Kayla, and Hayley. Nothing made him happier than being their "Papa". A Celebration of Howard's Life will be held Dec. 9th, from 5-7pm at Round House C.C.
