Irel Barrus passed away peacefully at The Commons at Dallas Ranch on May 3, 2013, at the of age 94.
Beloved husband of Boots Barrus who preceded him in death. Father of Delayne Wilson (Gene) of West Jordan, Utah. Patt Barrus (deceased) and Leslie Becker (Gary) of San Antonio, Texas. Grandfather of 7, and great-grandfather of 15.
Born April 13, 1919, Burley, Idaho; lived in Pittsburg since 1938. World War II veteran and retired U.S. Steel Corporation of 42 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Member and past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 154; member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1898; member and past Vice Commander of The American Legion Post 151; member of the Association of the Army; member and Past President of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Golden Gate Chapter. He served 50 years as a member of the Board of Directors of United Savings Federal Credit Union.
Viewing will be held Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Oak Park Hills Chapel, 3111 N. Main St., Walnut Creek.
Graveside service will be held Friday, May 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens, 2011 Arnold Industrial Way, Concord. Express condolences at www.oakparkhillschapel.com
