Joan Moss
August 22, 1941 - July 2, 2014
Walnut Creek and Lafayette
Joan Cynthia Moss, a 50-year resident of the area, passed Wednesday, quite quickly after being transported to John Muir Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, Peter H. Moss; her four children, Angela Shaw, Brian Fowler, Michael Fowler, and Rachel Hope Fowler; and her grandchildren, Jon Shaw, Ashley Shaw, Christina Shaw, and Kelly Shaw.
Joan graduated from South High, Salt Lake City, in 1959 and attended the University of Utah. Going back to school at Butte College, she then graduated nearby CSU at Chico in 1986 with a degree in political science and a paralegal certificate.
Returning to the East Bay, Joan worked in Walnut Creek as a paralegal for the firm of Burnhill Morehouse Burford for five years primarily with Chris Burford; for the Walnut Creek firm of Cooper, White & Cooper for five years; and for the practice of Denise Asper for two years. She retired in 2001.
Devoted to her children, Joan's most recent joy has been raising as guardian her granddaughter Kelly.
A Memorial will take place at the Overlook Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2369 Overlook Drive, in Walnut Creek, on Thursday, July 10, at 11:30 a.m. A Remembrance will occur at 7:30 PM, Friday, July 25th at the LDS chapel at 475 S. 700 W. St., Lehi, Utah, near her extended family.
Joan Moss will be sorely missed by her friends who remember her heart, wit, intellect and thoughfulness.
