John Louis Brun December 21, 1936 ~ September 19, 2012 Resident of Pleasant Hill, CA Beloved father, and husband, and friend to all John L. Brun died suddenly at his residence on the evening of September 19th. John was the youngest son of Nicolas Brun & Perpetua (Alvernaz) Brun. He was the first son to be born in the United States and grew up on a farm in Isleton, CA attending Bellarmine High School-Class of 1955. He attended University San Francisco from 1955 to 1958, while attending USF he served as a member of the ROTC Pershing Rifles. John served in the United States Army from 1958-1962 graduating from Motor Vehicle Operator School as the Distinguished Honor Graduate. John was married in 1964 to Patrice Burkhardt and together they had two sons John and Kevin. During their marriage they were very active in the youth ministry at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Walnut Creek. John worked as a Customs Broker for over 40 years working throughout the West coast. He was well renowned in his field and highly regarded in the Shipping Industry. John had a way of drawing people in and making them feel as if they were part of the extended family and will be.greatly missed. John was widowed in 1999. In 2002 John married his friend and wife Sylvia Crout. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, golfing, and enjoying good food and wine. John is survived by his wife Sylvia, son John and daughter-in-law Betsy, son Kevin and daughter-in-law Jeannette, step sons Alan Crout and daughter-in-law Robin and Chris Crout and daughter-in-law Michelle, along with 8 grandchildren: Joseph Brun, Reed Brun, Chris Brun, Cameron Crout, Zachary Croxit, Laura Crout, Catie Crout and Nohokai Pacheco. The service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill, California, October 13, 2012, at high Noon directly followed by a Celebration of Life at Faith Lutheran Church, Pleasant Hill, at 1 PM.
