Johnnie Jarvis Obituary

Johnnie E. Jarvis Dec. 3, 1919~March 30, 2009 Former Resident of Concord Johnnie passed away at the age of 89 years in Grass Valley last Monday. He was born in Treece, Kansas. Johnnie and his wife, Irene, moved to Concord in 1941 where they raised their two daughters. He was a retired Operating Engineer and was involved in building the San Mateo Bridge in the 1960s. Johnnie was a longtime member of the Alamo Lodge #122, F.&A.M. where he had served as Past Master and received one of the Mason's highest honors; The Hiram Award, a once in a lifetime award honoring outstanding service to Freemasons. Johnnie was also a member of the Shriners and served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1946 stationed at Camp Beale, CA. He was preceded in death by Irene Jarvis who passed away in 1984 and Ruth Marshall Jarvis who passed away in 2003. Johnnie is survived by his daughters, Donna (Ernie) Collins of Grass Valley and Sherry (Don) Nunnally of Lincoln; his grandchildren Shelley (Ed) Mortara and Dianne (Dan) Patton of Grass Valley; Patrick (Carrie) Collins of Meridian, ID, Michael (Wakako) Shower of Oahu, HI and Kristin Reed of Santa Maria; great grandchildren Katie (Chris) Utterback, Corey and Jeremy Mortara, Alexis and Jordan Patton, Devon Conable, Sarah Reed, Kate and Suzue Shower and one great-great-grandson Brandon Utterback. Visitation will be held from noon until 6 p.m. today at Moore's Mission Funeral Home, 1390 Monument Blvd, Concord. Masonic Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at the Funeral Home, followed by entombment at Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette. Memorial Donations may be made to the Hospice of the Foothills, 2399 Nevada City Hwy., Grass Valley, CA 95945 in honor of their ama- zing contribution to Johnnie and his family.
