Margaret H. Sion, born January 18, 1921 passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving, November 28, 2013 at the age of 92. She resided in San Ramon, California.
Margaret was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent her childhood through early adult years in Staten Island, New York. She graduated from Curtis High School in Staten Island and attended Pace College in New York where she majored in accounting.
She married Charles S. Cressy in 1941 and raised 7 children. She worked as a volunteer coordinator for the Monmouth County Welfare Board in New Jersey before retirement. After Charles' death she later married William "Bill" Sion in 1983 and resided in Springville, NY. In 1997 Margaret came to California where she had the opportunity to spend Bill's final years in a warmer climate and was close to her eldest daughters and extended family.
Margaret was a person who showed love through a lifetime of service and volunteerism including many years of delivering Meals on Wheels. She was a skilled seamstress and tailor and could tackle nearly any handicraft or home improvement project she set her mind to. She had a passion for life and loved sharing special meals with family and friends. She lived a full, colorful, and vital life!
Margaret now joins the loved ones who died before her, including her parents: Frederick and Margaret Jackson, sisters Virginia Lundstrom and Jean Ryan, her husbands Charles Cressy and William Sion, and a host of other angels looking forward to this grand reunion.
Margaret is survived by her brother Frederick Jackson, Jr. She is also survived by all 7 children including her daughters: Fredericka "Freddie" Fonss, Eileen Barr, and Allison Wilson as well as her sons: Charles, Douglas, Donald, and Bryan Cressy. She is also survived by her daughters'-in-law Gretchen Garvey and Helen Cressy, son-in-law Mark Perry, and son-in-love Heinz Gewing.
Margaret also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Jack Fonss, Jr.; Kelly and Timothy Cressy; Allison Woodall; Dale Barr III; Julie Husejnovic; Jason Cressy; Emily, Marilynn, and Natalie Wilson; and Hannah Cressy.
Margaret leaves a legacy of 11 great grandchildren: Max and Ava Fonss; Devan Capelli; Sarah, Zachary, and Jackson Woodall; Kian Barr; Aidan and Leila Husejnovic; and Ella and Jacob Cressy. She will be remembered by many other extended family as well as neighbors and friends in the Sunny Glen retirement community.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 8 from 2-4 pm at the Sunny Glen Retirement Community Clubhouse 9000 Craydon Cir, San Ramon, The family suggests that in lieu of flowers give to your local food bank or volunteer your time serving others as was Margaret's lifelong passion.
