Marvin B. Patague Obituary
Marvin B Patague
March 27, 1956-Nov 21, 2013
Resident of Pittsburg
Marvin passed away on Thursday surrounded by his loving family. Diagnosed with Mesothelioma in 2011, Marvin valiantly and courageously withstood the effects of chemotherapy and lived his life to the fullest.
Marvin was born in San Luis Obispo and graduated from Morro Bay High School. He is the youngest child of Adela and Bernardo Patague. He is survived by his mother and his sister, Lucia (Ron). He was preceded in death by his father.
In 1974, Marvin moved to Bay Area, where he attended the University of California at Berkeley. There, he met the love of his life, Becky Nichols. They married in 1979.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Becky and their children, Carissa, Kristen (Joel), and Nicolas, and his beloved granddaughters Arianna and Dellarose. Soft-spoken and humble, Marvin was a dedicated family-man and was happiest being in the company of his family.
Marvin loved to play golf and taught his son and granddaughter to play. A southern California sports fan, Marvin enjoyed watching the Dodgers and the Chargers, which created a lot of friendly banter since he married into a Giants/49er family.
After his diagnosis, Marvin was unable to continue at his job with Visa. He truly enjoyed working and never wanted to retire.
Marvin was a friend to all and his warm, infectious smile was comforting. He was a beautiful, kind and generous man and his passing leaves a great void in our lives.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 4:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Wednesday, November 27, 2013 11:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marvin to the Solano/CCC Food Bank or to Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation at www.curemeso.org.
