Obituary Condolences

Patricia Mae Pighin Aug. 16, 1928 - May 16, 2012 Resident of Martinez Pat Pighin passed into heaven on May 16th, 2012 at the age of 83, after a short battle with cancer. She was at home surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, loyal friend and doting "Noni". Pat's greatest joys came from her faith in God, her family and the many close friends she had throughout her life. Born Patricia Mae Herdle, Pat married her high school sweetheart, Aldo Pighin,, on June 6th, 1948. Together they had four children who were the center of her life. Pat devoted her early years to raising her children, a job she did with unending grace, patience and love. In 1979, she joined the Mt. Diablo Hospital Volunteers where she enjoyed 8 years of service. This was a very happy, fulfilling time during which Pat made many new friends. A devout Catholic, Pat dedicated her later years to Bible Study, the highlight of which was her trip to the Holy Land. Her faith in God was truly her foundation. Pat first became a grandmother in 1989, and spent her last 22 years doting on the next generation. Enthusiastically attending sporting events, birthday parties and graduations, Noni was extremely proud of her grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her daughter in law, Kirsten Pighin. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Aldo Pighin, children Shelley Pighin, Liza Wallace (Clay), Brad Pighin and Tricia Curran (Brendan), and grandchildren Bridgette and Kelsey Pighin, Matthew and Zachary Wallace, and Giulianna, Carly and Nolan Curran. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Pat's life at a Memorial Mass on Tuesday May 22nd at 6 p.m. at Christ the King Church in Pleasant Hill with reception to follow. Donations can be made to Professional Health Care at Home Hospice, 395 Taylor Blvd, Suite 130, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.
