Patrick Cifor Obituary

Patrick Neil Cifor
June 10, 1962-Feb 8, 2013
Resident of Walnut Creek
Patrick Neil Cifor, 50, was born June 10, 1962 in Livonia, Michigan to the late Shirley and John Cifor. Patrick was a free spirit and a dreamer. He wasn't afraid to work hard and travelled the globe to sample his favorite foods and wines. He was a loving father to his daughters Marika Cifor, who lives and works in Massachusetts, and Yeva Cifor, who is a college freshman in Washington State.
He always tried to be a gentle and trusting soul, who wanted to help others any way he could. He was brother to Sandra Cifor, Linda Cifor, John Cifor, and Gerald Cifor. He had many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, many still living in Michigan. His longtime business associate in Benefits Access,Neville Guard, and his coworkers, Yolanda, Kate, Sherrie, Yasmin, and Christie, were his longtime friends. He lived life to the fullest and always tried to stay upbeat. He had many friends whose lives were fuller for knowing him.
To celebrate his life, there will be a Memorial Service at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel on Thursday February 14th at 1PM with his family in attendance. In lieu of flowers,Patrick would have liked donations to be made to the Contra Costa County Food Bank , Red Cross, or the charity of your choice. He will be missed by all of us. Please pray for his soul.

Pat and I took Guadalajara by storm in 1984. He was a joyful and magic person, and I'll never forget the adventure, the friend or the Tigers hat. I know I'll miss him forever. Peace. Rest.

I knew Pat through work. I was the regionals sales rep for one of the large insurance carriers and worked with Pat on his group clients many years ago. Pat would show me pictures of his daughters. He truly loved them and was so proud of them. We would laugh and we would swap stories. The last time I saw Pat I was at an insurance meeting at a hotel and I heard someone yelling my name. It was Pat who came over and said hi, gave me a hug and asked about my son. You could not see Pat for years and then see him and it was as though you just saw him. He was kind, loving and a good person. My condolences to his family. I hope that Pat is with his loved ones in heaven.
Thank you Pat for sharing a part of you life with me. I will say prayers for you.

Chrystal,

I agree with you - three years has gone by fast but it seems like yesterday that Pat and I were traveling around promoting Pre-Paid Legal. He was larger than life and so much fun to be around. It has been 8 years since I last saw him and miss his presence even today.

I pray that his daughters and your family have found some peace and comfort since that fateful day. May the Lord bless you all.

Cheers to the good times with Uncle Pat

Uncle Pat,

I can not believe you have been watching over us for 3 years now. I can close my eyes and remember like yesterday, seeing you in the office the Christmas before Christian was born.

My mom found a few photos of the summer we lived off Dena in Concord. Summer BBQ's wont be the same but you will always be apart of our family that's for sure.

You are constantly in our thoughts Uncle Pat. We carry you in our hearts every time we get together, every holiday, Superbowl.

Still thinking of you!

Pat, I was your neighbor and even though I did not know you well, you were a staple in my life. I miss seeing your smiling face and wave while walking your dogs in the morning as I headed out to work. It was a great way to start the day. I find myself looking out the window and expecting to see you with dogs under the redwood tree. I will no longer be able to tease you about driving “my” Benz. I am sad that you have left us, but hope that you have found peace. Thank you for being a ray of sunshine in my life. I pray for strength for your family and friends.

My heart is broken with the loss of one of my very BEST friends……. I always considered Pat as a brother and we often referred to each other as “a brother from another mother” before and after our wine, scotch or our favorite Grappa di Pappa!! Pat and I spent countless hours fishing, hiking and swimming in the Pit River area (as well as spending time ALL over the Bay Area). There we smoked cigars, discussed life, relationships, the best wine we'd tasted, which fishing lure caught us the best fish, when the next Sake Shake was due, conversed about our kids and most of all he was the one who spoke to me about Yolanda and how happy she was when I was around her. These conversations helped repair my relationship and brought my life back into perspective and, I can safely say, finally reached a manageable balance. Only my two best friends, Pat and Neville could be so instrumental in guiding me in my life, and now the Trio is down do a Duo.
Pat, I will miss you more than anyone will ever comprehend, but I know that you will be by my side when l fish the “Heck” out of that river!! Your presence will always be felt in my life and in my heart.
Rest in Peace Hermano (my brother), have a Great Cigar, fish the streams of the world and sip those red wines you loved so much. We'll meet up on the "other side" some day when my destiny arrives.
My hear felt condolences to the FABULOUS Cifor family, Marika, Yeva and Lynn…….. Pat Loved you all Dearly, he told me so, ever so often.
“Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us”

I hope that you're in a place as serene as this.... "a day on the Bay"

My sincere condolences to the Cifor family, especially Marika and Yeva. I miss you and love you my friend.

First a day and then a week and then months and years pass. One day, I hear of my friend's passing and reflect on times spent and times not spent.

Pat was one of those people with whom you could never spend enough time with. Pat's reassuring smile and knowing twinkle in his eye always hinted of subdued mischief and a quiet reassurance that all was right in his world.

I consider myself a better person for having known Pat and know my world is a little more right because of him. You will be missed my friend – Rest In Peace.

Pat was a dear friend to me and my family; in fact I credit him with the creation of my beautiful family as he introduced me and my husband. He was one of the kindest, most genuine, generous, and gentle souls I have ever met. His smile and laugh were infectious and he radiated love and warmth. His love of and dedication to life, his family, his friends and his work were inspirring and noteworthy. We could all take a lesson from Pat on how to live life to the fullest. Since hearing the news of his passing, I notice things are different; just not right in the world without him in it. I am sad. Very, very sad; as I imagine all those whose lives he touched are. Pat, thank you for your friendship. You will live on in my heart and memory. Peace and Love, Daphne King

Uncle Pat as I refer to you as,

There is a song that I heard the other day that reminds me of the many memories we shared as a family. I never had the chance to tell you how truly fortunate I am to have had you and your girls be part of my life. You and Neville have helped my parents give me more life, more light and the tools to enjoy this journey we are so blessed with. I'll treasure always our chats, our trips to the wine country and the sheer moments of happiness spent together all of us as a big happy family. My heart is sore with sorrow that you will not be there when I come home but you will forever live in my heart and in my mind as my uncle Pat.

It is hard for me to believe that the man who loved life, family and friendship has left us, that he is now watching over us cheering us on waiting until we join him for a tasty glass of yummy wine.

Love you Uncle Pat and Thank you for sharing life with me and my family.

Pat, my friend, you are and will always be one of my dearest friends. You have a sense of class and style that is all your own and you are loved by everyone. Some of my favorite memories in life were shared with you. Whether they were fishing adventures in the Sierras, eating and drinking at Greek Festivals, wine tasting in the valleys or acting and dressing like pirates all weekend at Buccaneer Days on Catalina Island they were always an awesome and incredibly memorable time. It seems unfathomable that I should be writing this under these circumstances. I don't understand it and perhaps I am not meant to. I do know that I will hold onto our memories as long as I live and some day, long in the future, we will hook up again and have one heck of good laugh about what a long strange trip it was. Pat, sail on my friend, we shall have a good taste of Rum when I see you again on the other side.

Take care my dear friend,

Pat was one of the greatest men I have ever met. He did everything with class. He was one of the most worldly persons I've ever had conversations with. He was always very positive and so much fun to be with. We used to call ourselves the Ginger Bros because we had red hair. I'm so sad right now. He was so unique. I considered him one of three best friends I've ever had. I keep thinking of a line from the movie Brian's Song, that says it all about Pat..."I loved Brian Piccolo."

I look forward to seeing you again in Heaven Ginger Bro. I will miss you.

My heart is breaking. I can't believe that you are gone. I don't even know what to say except I will miss you so much. I am still in shock and dont want to believe it is real. You were very supportive of me while I worked with you and even more when I decided to move on. You just wanted the best for me and I will never forget our last conversation. I am lucky to have been able to call you my friend although you were so much more to me. I love you and will miss you.
