Robert Perry Obituary

Robert F. Perry
"Bob"
Resident of Concord
Bob Perry, 90, passed away on December 7, at his home in Concord with family by his side. Bob was the eldest of thirteen children born in Richmond, CA, on October 10, 1921, to Frank Daniel Perry and Anna Ruth (Celis) Perry. Serving as a sergeant in the United States Army at the age of 22, Bob stormed Omaha Beach at Normandy, France, during the D-Day invasion. After "living in a foxhole for three days," he then battled forward to march his troops on to Paris, helping to support the liberation of that city. Along the journey, Bob inscribed the name of each village he passed through onto the side of his mess kit. After returning home from the war, Bob married the love of his life, Billye Sue Turner from Perryton, Texas, whom he met when they both worked at the Richmond shipyards before the war. Together they waltzed through life's ups and downs, always dancing to the same tune while laying a solid foundation for their children. A few of Bob's many accomplishments include becoming a team manager for Concord American Little League; being involved in the various PTA clubs of his children's schools; and worked as an electrician, where he was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 302 for 55 years. He also built an A-frame cabin in the mountains for his family's enjoyment (with the help of many friends and co-workers), and was always available to help friends and neighbors in need. Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Billye (d. Feb. 5, 2001); his sisters, Agnes and Rita; and is survived by his children, Pamela Paxton-Eis (Steven), Greg Perry (Louise); and Nancy Davis (Greg); three brothers (Milt, Frankie, and Doug); and seven sisters (Jane, Marge, Dot, Gloria, Shirley, Carol, and Babs); along with nine grandchildren (Jennifer, Forrest, Devin, Ryan, Joanna, Kari, Ross, Allison, and Reid); and two great-grandchildren (Julia and Jack). Comfort during Bob's later months would not have been possible without the help of his caregiver/friend, Danguole, as well as the many friends who regularly visited#8212;Mary, Tom, Joyce Don, "Jocko," and his wonderful neighbors, Paul and Mike. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel, 4125 Clayton Road, Concord, on Friday, December 16, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 pm respectively. A remembrance of Bob Perry's life will be held in the Hennessey Room at Queen of All Saints Catholic School following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Bob's memory be sent to support the organization that gently led Bob to his final rest, Vitas Hospice Care, Attn: Cheryl Rosinack; 365 Lennon Lane, Suite 140, Walnut Creek, CA 94598 www.vitas.com/california

From afar, I'm sending my love and heartfelt thoughts to all of the Family whose loss of Bob is more than I can imagine. Bob and I shared so many stories of our Service days, and how very much the Bay Area had changed over the years. His constant display of love and pride of his Family was always so very sincere. It was truly my honor to have known him and shared so many good laughs together. Rest in Peace my Friend.
