Fred Wagner
November 6, 2009
Pastor Hidy was a very good friend of my father, Rev. Hans Ludwig Wagner. I remember answering the phone at our home with "Sherwood Forest, Robyn Hood speaking" and without a moments hesitation Pastor Ross replied "Hello Robyn, let me speak to Frier Tuck". We all had a good laugh at that one. When my father passed away I spoke to Pastor Ross about my loss and he told me, "Fred, there is one thing worse than dying, and that's not dying". He had a way with words that spoke to the heart. He will be missed. My family and I wish to send our condolences to Mrs. Hidy and Family.

Pastor Ross Hidy and his family of Cathedral Hill at St. Mark's San Francisco and Luther Tower were significant to me as a member of Chi Rho and choir back in the sixties. He was there for our 30 year reunion when I was hosted by The Kermit Sveen Family.

Rev. Hidy pastored a small community church during World War II, perhaps his first, in the Richmond housing for shipyard workers. Harbor Gate was my home for about 10 years and I have memories of attending Sunday School and singing in the children's choir at this church. After my mother's death we found a photograph of the choir and there I am with my siblings in our little white robes. We were able to walk to the community center where the church held meetings and I have many fond memories of those times. Some of us who grew up together still gather for lunch and I will share this with those who live out of the area. My sympathy to his family.

Rev. Hidy pastored a little community congregation in Harbor Gate (housing for shipyard workers in Richmond) during World War II, it was probably his first. I remember him and the wonderful time we had as kids attending Sunday School and singing in the children's choir. I remember having opportunities to go ice skating, playland at the beach. Going through my mother's things after her death there's a picture of the children's choir with me and my siblings in the group. My condolences to his family. Marlyn (Wallenten) Kauk
