Virginia Louise Lord (Bulmore) age 93, of Concord, passed peacefully on October 25, 2013.
She was born to the late Laurence and Martha Bulmore on Dec. 2, 1919, at home in Berkeley, CA.
Virginia graduated from Berkeley High School and received a Registered Nursing degree from Samuel Merritt School of Nursing in 1944. Virginia was a Navy Nurse and later a civilian emergency room nurse. She married the late Charles V. Lord in July 1949 and they lived in Montclair, CA before moving to Concord in 1956.
When their children were born, Virginia stopped working to be at home. She was very involved in her community as a PTA President and later as a School Board member. She volunteered with the Terrace Tea Room (The Tea Bags), Mt. Diablo rehabilitation center, and John Muir Hospital until her late eighties. She loved to travel, and took several trips around the world with her husband and family.
Virginia is survived by three children: Carol Lord of Concord; Nancy Kunde, of San Luis Obispo, CA; and Wes & JoAnn Lord of Concord. She also is survived by four grandchildren: Kelly, Allen, Michele and Carl. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bartley Bulmore.
She was a remarkable lady who lived a full life surrounded by a loving family and many wonderful friends who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to John Muir Hospital, or Vitas Hospice Care of East Bay 355 Lennon Lane, Walnut Creek, Ca.
A Private Family service will be held.
