Wilma M. Johnson, resident of Benicia, CA, passed away Saturday after a brave battle with lung cancer. She touched many lives with her amazing spirit of life and her love of her family.
Wilma was born in El Dorado, Kansas. She moved to Richmond, CA when she was 3 with her family and was raised there and met her husband Leland. They had three wonderful children and moved to Concord.
Her first job was as a fountain girl at Conns Drugstore in Richmond with her best friend Dorothy. She than sang in a band called J.C.L at the Trocadaro Dance and Dinner Club in San Pablo. Later she worked in cafeterias at various bay area school districts, retiring in 2008; she loved working with the children. Her joys were baking, cooking, watching golf, and keeping up with current news - but she was most passionate about being there for her children, grandchildren great grandchildren.
Wilma is survived by her three children Leland Johnson, Mary Parodi Kitty Johnson, grandchildren Stacy Greene, Christopher Johnson (Lisa), Julian Parodi, Michael Parodi Sandy Johnson (Nickie), and great grandchildren Michael Parodi Jr., Makena Johnson, Davis Johnson, Kailee Johnson, Kendyll Johnson Marshall Johnson. Her vibrant and loving spirit will be missed by all family, friends and all the lives she touched.
Friends and family are invited to the gravesite service at Oakmont Memorial Park Mortuary at 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, CA Thursday, December 20 at 1:00pm.
