Floyd R. Huckeby Jr. (Huck) passed away suddenly on February 23rd surrounded by his wife and daughters.
Huck was a retired Navy lithographer who went on to start his own printing company and later printing supply business. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars before retiring to the Pinole area. He started the business before he left the Navy and worked at Mare Island during the day and later commuted to Berkeley and worked nights. Georgette would work at the print shop during the day. They put in many long days and nights over the next seven years building the printing business, until the opportunity presented itself to transition from printing to supplies. Huck worked at this until his second retirement in 2001.
Huck is preceded in death by his parents Floyd R. Huckeby and Pearl Rains Huckeby, his sister Marian Huckeby Stace, brother in law David Stace and nephew David Lloyd Stace. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Georgette and daughters Karen Huckeby and Rene Huckeby Descovich, son in law Fritz Descovich, grandchildren Lt. Christopher Descovich USN, his wife Christina, great grandchildren Brendan, Madeleine and Gabriel, Lt. Gregory Descovich USN, his wife Lindsay, great grandchildren Nickolas and Carly, Melanie Descovich and Scott Brown and great granddaughter Caroline. He is also survived by his beloved sister Kathryn Huckeby Rudkin, her husband Ralph and their daughter Lynn as well as his nieces Debbie Stace Vanderveen and Kathy Swinehart as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews and their children.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 1st at 11 a.m. at Wilson & Kratzer Mission Bells Chapel 13644 San Pablo Avenue San Pablo, CA.
