James (Jim) Mason Faulkner Jr. passed away Wednesday March 12, 2014 peacefully in his home in San Ramon, CA. He touched the lives of many with his kind, gentle, and patient spirit.
Jim was born in Oakland, CA. He graduated from Oakland Tech High School in 1963, and began serving as a Police Officer for the city of Piedmont in 1973. As an Officer he operated in many capacities; Detective, Investigator, and Community Service Officer. He coordinated the bicycle patrol program as well as the annual bicycle rodeo for children. He held the esteemed title of Sergeant for 20 years before retiring on November 10, 2000. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with a great love for the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife Dianne; His daughter Nancy Smith and husband Rob Smith, His son James Faulkner III, His step-daughters Melanie Pond and her husband Randy Pond, Blayne Wittig and her husband John Wittig, as well as his five grandchildren, Trevor Smith, Christian Smith, Avery Hurd, Alexis Hurd, and Phoenix Hurd. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of life on Friday March, 21st at 1pm, at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St. Pleasanton, CA.
