Mary Alice Pool Obituary
Mary Alice Pool
Nov. 13, 1935-Mar. 20, 2014
Resident of Lafayette
Mary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, following her long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born in Tacoma Washington, attended Washington State University. where she studied to become a teacher, and also met her husband Richard. They were married in 1957 and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2007. Mary's career was split between teaching primary education and raising her family. She taught first and second grades in Spokane, Washington and at the Fort Campbell, Kentucky military base. In later years, she taught preschool in California. When she wasn't teaching she was volunteering in the classrooms. One of her proudest achievements was when she taught the first integrated second grade class at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In 1966 Mary and her family moved to Lafayette and that has been home ever since. She loved cooking, traveling, and walking her dog Pete. She loved Hawaii, and spent many joyous years at Christmas with her family on the Kona Coast of the Big Island. Mary is survived by her husband Richard, her three children Lisa Savinovich, Kristi Snapp, Monte Pool and four grand children, Grace, Luke, Jackson, and Rigby.
