Arthur Edvin Johnson Resident of Walnut Creek, CA In Walnut Creek March 19, 2014. A native of Berkeley, CA, age 92 years. Beloved husband of the late Irma Margaret Sundberg-Johnson. Loving son in law of Irma's parents the late Axel and Jennie Sundberg, natives of Finland. Loving father of Bruce Allen Johnson of Boulder, CO, Paul Arthur Johnson CPA of Orinda, CA and Dr. Carole Elizabeth Johnson of Oklahoma City. Dear brother in law of George Arnold Kalmar and Uncle of Kristina Jean Savidge Kalmar and Clifford Arnold Kalmar all of Piedmont and Peter and Anne Johnson , Stephen Johnson, Michael Johnson and great uncle of Christiann Johnson all of California. Dear father-in-law of Sali Gold-Johnson of Orinda and Cynthia Johnson of Walnut Creek. Dear grandfather of Jillian Johnson and Jocelyn Johnson and Augustus Finnegan Johnson Kellogg Also preceded in death by his parents Pekka Pietari Ikavalko Johnson and Hilja Siivola Ikavalko Johnson , both natives of Finland, sister Clara Dagmar Johnson and brother Ltd Cmdr. Werner Gunnar Johnson, USNR. Art was a World War II era veteran honorably serving his country with the US Merchant Marines, and then graduating from the California Maritime Academy, earning his Master's License, and serving as a sea captain during most of his 42 years of maritime service all over the world with Chevron Shipping Company. A 65 year member and serving as a Trustee of United Finnish Kaleva Brothers and Sisters Lodge No. 21 Berkeley, CA. Friends are invited to visit at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland on Friday March 28, 2014 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and attend funeral services also on Friday March 28th at 1:00 pm. Burial will be adjacent to his beloved late spouse Irma at Mt. View Cemetery. The family appreciates donations made in his memory to California Maritime Academy, and/or The Apostolic Lutheran Church in Concord and/or the United Finnish Kaleva Brothers and Sisters Lodge No. 21 at 1970 Chestnut Street Berkeley, CA.
