Resident of Danville
William Patrick Morones Sr., a much-loved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home April 1, 2014 with his family present. He was born July 30, 1927 in San Francisco, California, and resided in Danville, California for the past 9 years, having moved from Fremont in 2004. He attended Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco until enlisting in the Navy in 1945. Bill was in the US Navy from 1945-1949 and received an Honorable Discharge.
Bill had a wonderful life and was well loved by so many friends and family. During his early 20's Bill was a pitcher, playing semi-pro baseball for the Boston Red Sox organization for 4 years. Baseball was the love of his life until an injuring his pitching arm. Bill drove semi-trucks for Alhambra Water for the rest of his working career. He was the biggest 49er fan and truly loved going to many games throughout the careers of Joe Montana, Dwight Clark, and Jerry Rice. The five Superbowl wins were joyful occasions for him, just like the World Series wins for the SF Giants. Bill most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. His life was his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Doris Helen Morones of Danville; son William Patrick Morones Jr. and wife Danelle of Danville; daughter Candace Ann Rathbun and husband Tim of Danville; daughter Michelle Lee Devine and husband Keith of Danville; grandsons Ryan Lucas, William Devine and John Rathbun; granddaughters Michelle Morones, Kristina Lucas, Alex, Lauren and Olivia Devine and Katie and Paige Rathbun.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Isidore's Church in Danville, CA. There will be a reception following the service at the church. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on April 10th from 6:30pm until 8:00pm with the Vigil starting at 7:30pm.
