Resident of Discovery Bay
Paul G. Hansen, age 66, of Discovery Bay, CA passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Bruns House in Alamo, CA. Paul was born on March 9, 1948 in Aalborg, Denmark, the son of Olaf and Ella Hansen. Paul was an admired leader and began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Pete Marwick in Cleveland, Ohio, and worked at True Temper Corporation. He later relocated to California with Raychem Corporation in 1983. Throughout a 30 year career as an executive in the technology industry, Paul led Adaptec and TIBCO Software through Initial Public Offerings and served on the Board of Directors at Ikanos Communications. In addition to his career in finance, Paul was also an avid boater, golfer and "car guy". During the summer, Paul could often be found boating on the delta where he and his family made their summer home for 25+ years. He enjoyed spending winters in the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs with his wife. Paul was a man of many passions, but none more so than his family. A proud husband and father, he shared a special bond with each of his children and enjoyed sharing in their success. A special moment in his life was the birth of his granddaughter Colette in October of last year. Paul is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy Hansen of Discovery Bay, CA; daughter, Chantel of Pleasanton, CA; a son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Oksana of Pleasanton, CA; a granddaughter, Colette of Pleasanton, CA; a cousin, Georg Gronborg of Holiday, FL; and nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by parents Olaf and Ella Hansen, and brothers Jorn and Kaj Hansen. Friends are invited to a celebration of Paul's life on Saturday May 17th from 12pm – 4pm at the Exhibition Hall (Building B) at Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA. The family requests that in lieu of gifts that you consider a donation to Bruns House c/o Hospice of the East Bay 3470 Buskirk Avenue Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.
