Steven R. Jones, 56, passed away peacefully at home, in his sleep, on May 31, 2014, in Chico, California. A commercial plumbing contractor for over 30 years, Steven had recently settled in Chico with his partner Esa Murray after ending a short career as an independent, long-hall truck driver.
He was born in Modesto on September 26, 1957 and raised in Fremont, California.
Steven was passionate about spending time with his children and grandchildren, influencing them with his creative and adventuresome spirit. He was a builder and remodeler, a volunteer and friend who shared skills not just across his community but in Ireland, Poland and France.
He loved traveling, coaching youth sports, umpiring, flying (he held a commercial pilot's license), boating and scuba diving. And he loved the San Francisco Giants.
Steven is survived by his children Angela Pooler (Charlie) of Chico, Tyler Jones of Livermore; granddaughters Harper and Ella Pooler; sisters Clare Churchill (Denny) of Quincy and Andrea O'Rourke of Hailey, Idaho; brothers Tim Jones of Quincy and Jon Jones (Allison) of Walnut Creek, California; by his Partner, Esa Murray of Chico; stepmother, Sharon Belshaw-Jones of Bethel Island and former wife, Ann Clark of Livermore.
His was preceded in death by his father, Albert Jones of Bethel Island and his mother, Clara Jones of Fremont.
A graveside memorial will be held on June 14, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes at 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward California.
