Resident of Orinda
Elias Theodore Slaman, 21, of Orinda, CA, died on June 10, 2014, in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Funeral service will be held at the Orinda Community Church on Sunday, June 22, at 1 pm with Rev. Jim Brommers Bergquist officiating. Eli will be buried in Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette, California, on the hill overlooking the valley.
Eli was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Theresa and Theodore Slaman on March 8, 1993. He attended Miramonte High School and graduated in 2011. He studied at Diablo Valley College for two years. He was then accepted into the theater program at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, which he attended for one year as a theater arts major.
Eli's many talents included sculpture, ceramics, drawing, public speaking and debate, and acting. He loved the theater most of all, and he loved the community that came with it. He appeared in several plays at Miramonte, at DVC, and at Cal Poly. He taught theater arts to young students over the summer at Town Hall Theater in Lafayette, and over the 2014 spring semester in San Luis Obispo.
Eli is survived by his mother, Theresa Anne Slaman; his father, Theodore Allen Slaman; and his sister, Esther Theresa Slaman, of Orinda.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Cal Poly Foundation, noting that the contribution is being made in Elias Slaman's memory. Contributions should be mailed to the Cal Poly Foundation, 1 Grand Avenue, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407-0443.
Condolences may be left in Eli's online guestbook:
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Eli's many loving friends, who lifted him out of darkness, if only for a time.
