Mable Lee Stewart passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 after a long journey with dementia. She was 86.
Mable was a gentle spirit with a joyous outlook on life. Her family was of utmost importance to her. She was loved and respected by all that knew her.
Mable was born in Oklahoma and came to California with her family as a teenager. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1946 and then went to work for the US Postal Office in Richmond. In the early 1960's she went to work for Overaa Construction as a bookkeeper. She remained with them until her retirement. Mable was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star and was the Guardian for Job's Daughters Bethel #149 in Hercules.
Mable and Lester "Curly" Stewart were married on June 1, 1946 in Reno, Nevada. They settled in Richmond and had two daughters. In 1954 they relocated to El Sobrante where they lived for many years.
Mable is preceded in death by her husband Lester "Curly " Stewart (1986) and her grandson Jacob Daniel Kinder (2006). She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Stripling (Lin Striplng) and Paula Kinder Borman (Tom Borman) and four grandchildren, Shaharom Stripling and his wife Alison, Lindsay Stripling, Ashley Stripling, and Justin Stewart Kinder. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Mia, Trevor, Hailey and Jackson Stripling.
Graveside services are to be held on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 10:00 am at Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette
