Richard Carl Cupp|
Sept. 12, 1924 - July 3, 2014
Resident of Lafayette
Richard's wish to quietly join his beloved wife of 67 years was fulfilled early Thursday morning.
Richard was born in Joplin, Missouri to Elmer and Edith Cupp. He enlisted in the Navy and while stationed in Alameda met Julie Kohles at a USO dance. It was her smile that he noticed from across the room. In 1947 they married and moved to Pullman, WA where Richard graduated from WSU with a degree in Accounting. In 1956, they relocated to CA where he would work for Chevron for the next 28 years.
When he was promoted to the audit staff in SF they bought their dream home in Moraga and resided there for 42 years. For the past five years they lived at Atria where they were doted on by many wonderful caregivers.
Richard will be remembered for his quick wit, generosity, and his practical and gentle nature. He inspired values of integrity, honesty, and high standards. He enjoyed coaching little league, golphing, bowling, and playing bridge with close friends.
He will be greatly missed by his 8 children, Catherine Cassady, Margaret Pfalzer (Thomas), Mary Becker (Bruce), Theresa Taylor (Henry Simmons), Michael Cupp, Joan McClure (Bryan), Carol Cupp (Brian Favero), and Susan Schaefer (Carl), 16 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robert Cupp (Kathleen), brothers in law, Fran (Honey) Kohles, Greg (Cynthia) Kohles, Richard (Jean) Kohles along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife Julie, and daughter Nancy.
Funeral will be held July 12th at Christ the King Church at 9:30.
