Resident of Pleasanton
She was born Maria Emilia da Silva Barbeiro and came from the island of
Santa Cruz des Flores, Portugal, immigrated to America at the age of 12 years old.
Mary was a high energy, fun loving woman with a great amount of "zest for life".
Her true enjoyment was the Catholic Community, Portuguese I.D.E.S. Club of Livermore and Pleasanton, parties with family and friends, gardening, baking and crocheting blankets.
In the late nineties, she moved to Pleasanton from Clearlake to be closer to her family. She loved hanging out with her three grandkids and five great grandchildren, playing many hours of board games, with a passion for the "WIN". Her great grandchildren affectionately called her "HONEY".
Her fulfillment in life was celebrating her 90th Birthday with a big party full of family and friends, "dancing the night away". She was really looking forward to the BIG 100.
She was preceded in death by her son George M. Santos. Mary is survived by her son
John D. Santos, (Marian) of Pleasanton, Grandkids Robin Santos, (Karen),
Christine Leonard, (Jeff), Ken Santos of Pleasant Hill, her five great grandchildren, Phoebe, Miles and Sophie Santos of Pleasanton, Rachel and Morgan Leonard of Livermore.
Family and friends are invited to a Catholic Mass at St. Elizabeth Seton on Thursday, August 7th at 10:00 AM.
