Charles Alexander "Chuck" Gangnuss Obituary
Charles "Chuck" Alexander Gangnuss
Formerly of Pleasanton
Charles "Chuck" Alexander Gangnuss passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the age of 55, from heart complications.
Charles is preceded in death by his father, Waldemar Gangnuss.
Charles is lovingly remembered by his mother, Lydia Matheson of Pleasanton; son Andrew Gangnuss of West Sacramento; daughter Courtney Gangnuss of Pleasanton; mother of his two children, Eva Gangnuss of Sunol and four siblings, Greg (Elsa) Gangnuss of Mico, TX, Oliver Gangnuss of San Antonio TX, sister Christina (Joseph) Hernan of Pleasanton and brother William (Alessandra) Gangnuss of Walnut Creek; and loving nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives.
Charles was born in Killeen, Texas, in 1959. As the son of a highly decorated career military man, he lived in many places growing up, including Germany, Kentucky and then finally here in the Tri-Valley area. He attended Dublin High School, class of 1977, where he enjoyed many standout years in both football and track & field; where his 120M hurdle record still stands. He earned a football and track scholarship to the University of Idaho. He ultimately finished his football career with the University of California, Berkeley and received his undergraduate degree in business from St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. He worked as one of the youngest IT Directors ever named by American Stores for over 10 years and prior to that for AT&T in various management positions.
Charles' greatest joy was watching his two children, Andrew and Courtney, become the remarkable individuals they are today, as well as following his beloved Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family and friends.
The funeral service will be held at St. Philips Lutheran Church in Dublin on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 10am. Graveside service to follow at Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery, 5780 Sunol Blvd., at approximately 11:30am.
