Obituary Condolences

The Rev. Ross F. Hidy May 7, 1917 - Oct. 10, 2009 Resident of Concord The Rev. Ross F. Hidy died peacefully on October 10, in his home in Concord, CA. Born in Springfield, Ohio, Pastor Hidy graduated from Temple University and Philadelphia Lutheran Seminary. Ordained in 1942, he served parishes in Pennsylvania, Washington, and California, and held national Lutheran Church posts, working actively for evangelism, ecumenism, and social justice. Following his retirement in 1984, he served as president of the Lutheran History Center of the West, and wrote five books on Lutheran history. Pastor Hidy enjoyed fishing, photography, camping, golf, and music, especially jazz. A loving family man, Pastor Hidy is predeceased by two children, Marilyn and Drew. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; children Carol, Paul (Cossette), and Diane (Tony); grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial service: Sat., Nov. 7, at 10:30am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4000 Clayton Road, Concord, CA, 94521.
