Nancy Tempelis Resident of Kensington Nancy, born on July 17, 1931 in Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2012 in Berkeley, CA. She is survived by her husband Professor Constantine Tempelis (UC Berkeley), her sons Bill and Dan, Daughters-in-Laws Corinna and Elizabeth, and grandchildren Colin, Andie, and Erinn as well as sisters Vivian Hayter and Ruth Parshall. Nancy grew up in several cities throughout the Midwest and graduated from the La Crosse State College with a degree in secondary education. Nancy went on to teach High School History and English in Union Grove, Wisconsin. Nancy met her husband at The University of Wisconsin, Madison, and married on August 27, 1955. The couple moved to Berkeley in 1958 after living in Madison and Morgantown, WV. Among Nancy's many passions in life was watercolor painting. Favorite subjects included the rugged Northern California Coastline and Sierra Nevada. Hundreds of her paintings were entered into contests and shows, winning dozens of awards. Nancy also loved to travel. Travels included a sabbatical in London, England and two in Innsbruck, Austria. One of her favorite places to visit was Honokeana Cove on Maui. She loved relaxing in the sun with her family as well as snorkeling in a cove that featured sea turtles and several species of fish. The family would like to thank all of Nancy's caregivers, especially, Mary. A memorial service for Nancy will be held on April 14th at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 401 Grizzly Peak in Berkeley. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American
