GEORGE AVERY Obituary
George Barnes Avery Apr. 8, 1929 - May 2, 2012 Resident Antioch George passed away at the age of 83 at his home in Antioch, Ca. with his family present. He was born in Framingham, MA., where he lived until the age of 25. He was the son of the late Lilah and Bernard Avery. Brother to Ann Todd, of La Jolla, and the late Richard Avery. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheila Avery, originally from Toronto, Canada, and their three children. Marilyn Nakkari and her husband, Jason, of Danville, Bill Avery and his wife, Natalie, and their children, Harrison, Anderson and Addison of Sacramento, Jennifer Finney and her husband, Sean, and their children Grace and Connor, of Rancho Murieta. He served in the Army in Korea. He retired from Magnavox in 1984 and he enjoyed working for the Bay and Delta Yachtsman for many years. He was an avid boater and Past Commodore of Bridge Marina Yacht Club. He had a love for trains his whole life and built a backyard garden railroad at his home in Antioch. He had a jolly attitude about life and made everyone feel special. George's legacy is his love and devotion to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. At his request there will be no services. The family will have a private celebration of his life.
