Obituary Condolences

Harold S. Frey Jun. 6th 1920 - May 15th 2012 Resident of Walnut Creek and Martinez Harold passed away peacefully at his home of natural causes Tuesday evening, at the age of 91. He was born in Mulhall, Oklahoma, to Samuel and Lena. As a young man he was in charge of running five of his family's farms. During WWII he joined the army and served from 1942-46; afterward, he served in the National Guard for two years. In 1948 Harold relocated to Martinez, where he opened his own cabinet and formica shop. Later on, he also worked for many years as plant engineer at Mt. Diablo hospital in Concord. A dedicated father, he volunteered his time in little league with his four sons. Harold continued to support and enjoy their play through high school. Throughout his life, Harold loved to fish. He enjoyed fishing for bass and sturgeon out of Martinez, as well as many trout fishing trips throughout California. Hunting with his sons was also a favorite pastime. In 1985 he retired, and continued to enjoy the outdoors, gardening, and watching his large, happy family grow. Harold will be remembered for his compassion, unassuming nature, and especially for his love of his family. Harold is survived by his partner of 28 years Gloria Ackerman his four sons: Brent, Keith, Robert, and Mark; their wives Judy, Karin, Kim; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Connolly and Taylor in Martinez on Tuesday, May 22nd at 11 a.m.
