Barbara J. Rieger|
Resident of Roseville, CA, formerly of Concord.
Barbara Jean (Hagen) Rieger, affectionately known as Bobbie, was born August 11, 1935, in Napoleon, Ohio. She passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by many members of her family, on October 24, 2012, after a yearlong determined fight against breast cancer.
On Bobbie's first day of Kindergarten, she met her future husband, Joseph Edward Rieger. They later became Napoleon High School sweethearts, graduating Class of 1953 and married in 1956. Joe joined the United States Air Force, and they moved to Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, and Italy.
After the military, they settled in Columbus, Ohio where Bobbie finished her teaching credential while Joe attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University. Bobbie supported their growing family working as a Kindergarten teacher and raising their children, Linda, Diane, and Steve.
The family eventually moved west in 1966 to Concord, California where Bobbie and Joe built and started their own veterinary practice, Adobe Animal Hospital on Clayton Rd. They later retired to Sun City in Roseville, CA.
Bobbie was preceded in death by Joe, her husband of 54 years, on January 4, 2010. She treasured her role as Grandma and is survived by her three children, Linda Olsen (Jerry) of Bend, OR. , Diane Larson (Rick) of Concord, CA., Steve Rieger (Dana) of Mill Valley, CA., ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Antone Hagen of Arizona.
