Ruth Elizabeth Scanlon
Aug. 18, 1922 - Dec. 29, 2012
Former Resident of Rossmoor
Ruth passed away peacefully on December 29th at the age of 90. She was born in Grass Valley, California to Ernest Lloyd Dennis and May Ethel Dawe. She grew up in beautiful Grass Valley with brothers Lloyd and Charles and sisters Catherine and Eleanor. Ruth is preceded in death by all her siblings as well as her husband of 39 years, Bob, who passed in 1984. She is survived by her son, Michael, his wife Jean, their children, Brian and Christopher and her youngest son, David, his wife Bernadette, their children Beaujean, Erin and Cecilia.
Bob Ruth married and raised their family in Oakland, CA. They moved to Walnut Creek in the late 60's, early 70's. Ruth was a dedicated bookkeeper for over 20 years, initially working for housing developments and ending her career at a graphics company in Emeryville. Upon Bob's death, Ruth moved to Rossmoor where she embarked on a new chapter of her life. She was an active volunteer at the library, welcoming committee and several other organizations within Rossmoor. She loved everything about Rossmoor and was heart-broken when, due to failing health, she had to move into a board and care facility in 2009. She frequently reminisced about all the wonderful people she met at Rossmoor and all the great activities she was able to participate in during the almost 25 years she lived there.
