Kathy was employed by the Community College District for 33 years. The first 20 years was spent in data processing and then the last 13 years were devoted to the DVC Bookstore. After retiring she spent most of her time volunteering at Contra Costa Regional Hospital in Martinez as co-manager of the Gift Shop and at the Senior Center in Pinole. Andy and Kathy loved to travel, and did, quite extensively, before and after retirement. She also had been a waitress at the Moose Lodge for 10 years and belonged to the Women of the Moose since 1972.
She is survived by her spouse, Andy, son Mark Shelton (Ronica) of El Sobrante, daughter Lori Rivers of Walnut Creek, extended family daughter Renee Griffin (David) of Bakersfield, extended family son Rocky Schachair (Karen) of El Sobrante, extended family son Richard Schachair (Susan) of Pinole, brother Matthew Espen of Orland, sister in law Alma Keener of Salem Oregon, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Special in her heart is Renee Clark, Doreen Estremo, and Chris Mahoney. Numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
Burial is to be arranged by the Nautilus Society. She has requested a burial at sea. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a
