Larry William Kelley passed away peacefully at home on Sunday after a brave fight with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and their three daughters.
Larry was born in Albany, CA and graduated from Hayward High. He enlisted in the
upon graduation and served proudly during the Cuban Blockade Crisis aboard the USS Keppler. After serving in the Navy, he sailed with the Merchant Marines. Following, he was employed by Local 39 Stationary Engineers for over 30 years where he worked at Oakland Laundry, Samuel Merritt Hospital in Oakland and Brookside Hospital in San Pablo over his long career.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pamela, their three daughters Jennifer Spencer (Tracey), Michelle Atkinson (Andrew) and Katherine Meredith (Chris) and grandchildren Caitlin and Amanda Spencer, Nicholas and Brady Meredith and Connor and Makinley Atkinson. Larry also had a very special love for his "Italian son", Giovanni DiPrete (Annalisa) of Pisa, Italy. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Patricia Hatfield and his brother, Gene Kelley. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Eugene Kelley and Mildred Irene Kelley and his sister, Maureen Kelley.
Friends and family are invited to services with Military Honors on Friday, June 21 at 1:00pm at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Sutter Care at Home Hospice, 1900 Powell St, Ste 300, Emeryville, CA 94608.
