Giuliano Enea Fontana was born September 6, 1933 and died November 17, 2013. A resident of Fremont, Giuliano passed away peacefully from complications of a stroke suffered in July. Giuliano was born in Lucca Italy to Armando and Maria Lina Fontana. Giuliano immigrated to the United States in 1950 and shortly after joined the Oakland Scavenger Company at the age of 17. Giuliano's happiest times were spent with Elsa, his loving wife of 53 years, and their family; Dino, his wife Donna and their children Michael and Juliana; Cynthia, her husband Jonathan Lee and their daughters Sonia and Sabrina, and his furry little companion Gracie. Giuliano loved the land of his birth and visited Italia with Elsa many times over the last 37 years, most recently in 2011 with his children, their spouses, and grandchildren. The cabin at Lake Tahoe was their second home for the last 37 years. He loved music and was an accomplished accordionist for over 60 years. He loved food, wine, his garden, and the outdoors. Along with his immediate family, Giuliano is survived by his brother Marco, his brothers-in-law Renzo Casazza and his wife Karen, Marco Casazza and his wife Jan, sisters-in-law Mimi Casazza, Catherine Fontana, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
