Chuck Morash Obituary
Chuck Morash June 26, 1929 - Jan. 7, 2014 Resident of Pleasant Hill Beloved Husband and Family Man. Charles "Chuck" Morash, a hobbyist, insurance salesman and patriarch died Tuesday Jan. the 7th. He was 84. Morash was born in Tacoma, WA to Douglas Morash and Helen Coombs on June 26, 1929. Growing up during the Great Depression shaped the worldview he carried for the rest of his life. Principles such as courage, perseverance, and the importance of family became the essence of his character. In attendance at the now famous Stadium High School he met his wife of 65 years, Barbara Chester. Immediately they fell in love and were married on Dec. 14, 1948. To further show his dedication he tattooed her first name on his bicep. Together they had five children-three sons and two daughters. They continued to live in Tacoma until 1965 when the family moved to Walnut Creek for better financial opportunity. Eventually they settled in Pleasant Hill. Morash was employed as an insurance salesman for the American Automobile Association which flourished into a 45 year career. Known to his coworkers as the "Silver Fox," Morash's gentle, humorous, yet hardworking demeanor gave him affinity amongst his peers. At numerous offices around the Mt. Diablo area he impacted the careers of many with his mentoring abilities. Although he often worked long hours and six day work weeks he still found time for many things: family trips up to Washington State to go fishing, rituals of Sat. night cheeseburgers, feeding squirrels in the backyard, avid gardening and the variety of hobbies he had. From collecting stamps to model planes and trains to watching science lectures on his computer, his curiosity could not be contained. For a soft-spoken man, his grandchildren would describe him as "a laugh a minute." He had many friends and was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Concord. The love his family and friends had for him was the result of his greatest achievement-that he loved the best he could and did it with honor. He is survived by his wife Barbara, his five children; Alan Morash, Steven Morash, Ann Pinion, Susan Wood and Dean Morash; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Memorials Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat. at Oak Park Hills Chapel on 3111 N. Main St. Walnut Creek, 94597. Donations can be made in his honor to the .
