Resident of Pittsburg
Dayton passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 13, 2014. Dayton was born to Horace and Gladys Lawson in Coal Valley, AL and moved to Pittsburg, CA in 1949. He attended Pittsburg High School and later joined the Air Force and was stationed in England for 4 yrs. Upon returning home, he purchased The Vogue Club in Pittsburg where he enjoyed talking and laughing with his many friends. In 1964, he went to work for the U. S. Steel Mill and diligently served as Vice President of Local Union 2571 as well as, Chairman of the Grievance Committee. He retired in 2003. Dayton, who was truly a loving and devoted father, is survived by his 3 children, Philip Lawson, Tom (Marilyn) Long, Kat (Tom) Nelson and 8 grandchildren. Dayton was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of Dayton's life will be held at The Delta Golf Club on Sat., Feb.1, 2014 at 12 PM.
