May 16, 1927 ~ June 22, 2014
Resident of Pleasanton
After a brief illness, Marlys Laverne Osmon Day passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Sunday, June 22, 2014.
Survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Ellis, she was a wonderful mother to sons Chuck (Karen) and Donn and daughter Susan (Steven) and daughter-in-law, Peggy. She was a dotting grandma to Jocelyn (Chris), Aaron, Danielle, Jared, Rachel, Joel, Jennifer and Julenne (Jay) and 4 great granddaughters; Valerie, Kayle, Emma and Hailey. Also survived by her brother, Donn Osmon (Barbara) from Florida and by cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ralph and Alice Osmon.
Born in Lakota, North Dakota, she lived in various small towns while growing up. Always a good student, she graduated early from York High School in a small class of 7 people in 1944. Soon after graduating, she decided to join her aunts and uncles in California. She worked periodically through the years, but mainly was a stay-at-home mom and foster mom. She was a wonderful cook and baker, enjoyed gardening, spending time with her dogs and was a voracious reader. In later years, she wasn't afraid of the computer, spending time shopping online or emailing friends around the world.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, July 18 at 2 pm at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St., Pleasanton. All are welcome to attend a reception following the service.
Flowers are welcome but if you so desire, please donate to St. Jude's or to your local SPCA organization.
